Acoustic Ecology & Spatial Sound

An Audiology Australia professional development workshop

In March 2011, SIAL Sound Studios presented a workshop around acoustic ecology & spatial sound as a professional development workshop for Audiology Australia.

The workshop presented concepts and recent work from the two related fields: acoustic ecology – the study of the relationship of listening beings to the soundscape; and spatial sound – including auditory spatial awareness, spatial sound systems and the contexts in which they occur, and the psychoacoustics of spatial listening.

The aims of the workshop were to present an overview of key concepts and resources from the field of acoustic ecology, highlighting potential areas of interest for audiologists; and to review current work in spatial sound and psychoacoustics.
